Alberto Roque Santana (1961 - )

Spanish orchestra conductor and composer. Born in La Laguna (Tenerife, Canary Islands) in 1961. Piano studies at the Conservatorio Superior de Música de Tenerife. Composition studies at the Franz Liszt Academy of Music in Budapest, with Emil Petrovics and János Vajda, and in Siena, with Franco Donatoni.

 

He has a long list of works commissioned by international public and private institutions. His compositions have been performed in Hungary, Denmark, Holland, Norway, Spain, Italy, France, Turkey, Venezuela, Brazil, Cuba, Australia, and the United States. Works for piano, voice and piano, choral, chamber music ensembles, concertos, and 2 operas: “La Diva”, about Maria Callas, after a libretto by the acclaimed Hungarian soprano Sylvia Sass; and “María Liberata”.
