Eduardo Burnay

Eduardo Burnay (1877-1926) was the only one of ten children of Burnay Count following a musical career as a pianist, being a student of Rey Colaço.

There was no room in Lisbon that wasn’t heard him, from the Conservatory to the Literary Guild, of which he was a partner. The press gave us news of their successes at the time, as the Arte Musical or Amphion. We also have echoes of his visit to Paris through the memories of Gabriel Louis Pringue, published under the title of Trente ans de diners en ville (1948).

As a composer , he left us several pieces for piano. Among these, there is one fate for piano, which became known as Fado Burnay. The Teatro S. Luiz, heard on many Sundays the version orchestrated by maestro Peter Blanch with the Symphony Orchestra of Lisbon who directed until its dissolution in 1928.
