Francisco António de Almeida

Due to its noble origins, received from King John V grants, to study in Italy. Between 1722 and 1726 he studied in Rome, where he published two oratorios, Il pentimento di David and La Giuditta. In July 9, 1724 participated in an organized academy by Pier Leone Ghezzi, who at the time drew a caricature, describing him in the legend as a "young, but great composer of concerts and sacred music,who sings with extremely taste". He returned to Portugal in 1726, where he became organist of the Royal and Patriarchal Chapel of Lisbon. He was piano teacher of the Infanta Maria Barbara of Portugal. In 1728, the first of his serenades, Il Trionfo della virtù was held in Lisbon in the palace of Cardinal João Mota e Silva. His comic opera, La pazienza di Socrate, was held at the royal palace in 1733. It was the first Italian opera in Portugal. For the carnival celebrations, La Finta Pazza premiered at the Royal Palace of Ribeira in 1735. It is believed that has probably died in Lisbon during the 1755 earthquake. Some of his works:
