Carlos Garcia (1983 - )

He was born in 1983 in Torres Vedras.

At the age of twelve, Carlos Garcia entered Escola de Música do Conservatório Nacional (Lisbon). There, he studied ear training, clarinet with Luis Gomes, organ with Rui Paiva, analysis and composition techniques with Eurico Carrapatoso and Jazz Class with Pedro Moreira.

He studied piano jazz with Aurelian Lino, João Maurílio, João Falcato, João Paulo Esteves da Silva and Antoine Hervé.Carlos Garcia has also taken part in some orchestral conducting seminars with Vasco Pearce de Azevedo, Ernst Shelle, Jean-Marc Burfin and Francisco Cintado Briceño.He graduated in 2005 in Formação Musical (Music Teaching - Theory/Ear training/Music reading) at Escola Superior de Música de Lisboa.He taught music (Ear Training/Theory) at Escola de Música Metropolitana de Lisboa and at Escola de Música Luís António Maldonado Rodrigues (Torres Vedras).

He was a guest teacher at Escola Superior de Educação de Lisboa in the Musical Education lecture.Currently, he is a teacher at Escola de Música do Conservatório Nacional (Ear Training/Theory and Junior Orchestras). He is also an assistant teacher at Escola Superior de Música de Lisboa in Music in the Community lecture.

He is a regular supervisor in music workshops of Gulbenkian Educational Program for Culture. He is also a pianist in several musical projects (jazz, pop, funk, folk) and since 2003 he has been writing arrangements for the groups he plays with.
