Twins, natural from Portugal and born in 1991, they have They have developed a great synchronization marked by a strong stage presence always linked to the simplicity of the natural fluency of their music.

Fernando Costa has been claimed as "a safe value of the new generation of performers in Portugal" (Casa da Música, Oporto). A young cellist whose recognition and prestigious awards are the result of his emotional resonant performances, marked by a strong presence on stage and an expressive and musical sensitivity combined with a dynamic and impulsive style.

Fernando, Portuguese cellist born in 1991, started his cello studies with Valter Mateus and finished his Bachelors (2013) with maximum classification at Superior School of Music and Performing Arts (ESMAE, Oporto) in Jed Barahal's class. In 2015 he has finished his Master Degree in Music Performance under the guidance of the prestigious cellist Antonio Meneses at Hochschule der Künste Bern, in Switzerland.

Fernando worked with Paulo Gaio Lima, Filipe Quaresma, Dimitri Ferschtman, Márcio Carneiro, Anne Gastinel, Natalia Gutman, Pavel Gomziakov, Lluis Claret and others. He won prizes in several competitions: 1st Prize “Prémio Jovens Músicos 2011”, Cello, Superior Level; 1st Prize “Concurso Internacional Santa Cecília” (2011); 1st Prize “Prémio Helena Sá e Costa 2012”; 1st Prize in ConCursos 2012 (chamber music); 2nd Prize in “Prémio Jovens Músicos 2012 and 2013”, Chamber Music, Superior Level. As soloist he has performed with Orquestra Gulbenkian, Orquestra do Norte, Orquestra de Câmara de Cascais e Oeiras, Orquestra Sinfonieta da Esmae and others.

His concerts always range from solo to chamber music having, currently, a regular musical activity in Portugal and abroad. As recent projects stand out the tours in Canada, Africa and the participation in several Music Festivals, like in Portugal, Spain, Netherlands, France and Italy. He was holding a scholarship from Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation from 2013 until 2015 and he’s nowadays represented by KNS Artists, being recently published his debut CD release “Après un rêve” for the same label – KNS Classical.


Luis Costa took his first piano lessons from Zhuang Xiao Hua when he was 8 years old. A few years later he started studying with Alvaro Teixeira Lopes, who is still his professor and has always been a great inspiration to him. In 2012 he studied under the guidance of Friedemann Rieger at the HFM Stuttgart. Luis Costa entered few competition, being laureate in the “Le Mesnil des Arts” International Competition, the Concurso Ibérico do Alto Minho, the Santa Cecília International Music Competition (Porto) and the Prémio Jovens Músicos – Chamber Music Prize. His career has led him to perform in cities such as Girona, Rome, Johannesburg, Pretoria, Cape Town, Ottawa, Toronto, Montreal, Harare, Windoek, London, Frankfurt, Stuttgart, Darmstadt, Barcelona, Madrid, Leon, Brasilia in venues such as the Casa da Música (Porto), Centro Cultural de Belém (Lisbon) and the Glenn Gould Studio (Toronto), etc., and at festivals such as the Saint Pere de

Rodes Festival (Catalonia), the Festival Percursos da Música (Ponte de Lima), the Ciclo Jovens Talentos (Porto), Musique en Vallée du Tarn (France) Hammerklavier Series and Festival de Musica de Besalú. He has also appeared as soloist with the Orquestra Filarmonia das Beiras, the Young Orchestra of Malaga (JOPMA), the Orquestra de Câmara da Maia, Lusitanae Ensemble and Banda Militar do Porto. Luis Costa remains in frequent contact with pianist Joaquín Soriano in Madrid, also a great inspiration to him. He dedicates a significant portion of his activities to chamber music, working with António Meneses, Lluis Claret, Hans-Peter Stenzl and Chagas Rosa. He has recorded for Portuguese National Television RTP, for Antena 2 Radio, CHIN Radio and NBC Television. Luis Costa is represented by KNS Artist Management and recoreded two albums for KNS Classical.
