Bruno Vicente é um maestro e compositor português natural da Figueira da Foz e atualmente residente em Roterdão, Países Baixos. Estuda direção de orquestra na Codarts Rotterdam com os professores Hans Leenders, Sander Teepen e Wiecher Mandemaker. Antes disso concluiu também o mestrado e a licenciatura em composição, na Codarts e na ESMAE, Porto, respetivamente. Na área da composição, estudou com figuras como Hans Koolmees, Wim Hendrickx, Klaas de Vries, Peter-Jan Wagemans, Josué Amador, Dimitris Andrikopoulos, , Carlos Azevedo e Pedro Santos, João Pedro Oliveira, entre outros. Em direção de orquestra teve aulas com nomes como Lawrence Foster, Arie van Beek, Karel Deseure, Baldur Brönnimann, Johan de Meij, Luís Clemente, Joost Geevers e Ronald Kieft.

Como compositor, em 2023, foi um dos finalistas do prémio Stipendium da Nederlands Radio Filharmonisch Orkest, tendo a sua obra “Harmony of the Spheres” interpretada por esta orquestra no Muziekcentrum van de Omroep em Hilversum, Países Baixos. A mesma composição venceu também o 1.º prémio na 2. ª edição do concurso ABC…Compositores! do Teatro Nacional de São Carlos e foi estreada em março de 2023 pela Orquestra Sinfónica Portuguesa, tendo sido também editada e publicada pela AvA Editions. Colaborou ainda com outros conjuntos como a Sinfonia Roterdão, a Orquestra Harmonix, a Delfts Symphonie Orkest, o Coro do Círculo Cultural Scalabitano e o Opus 111 Ensemble, e compôs música para peças de teatro radiofónico transmitidas pela Antena 2, em Portugal.

Em direção de orquestra é maestro assistente da Orquestra de Câmara Portuguesa e da Jovem Orquestra Portuguesa na temporada 2025/2026. Foi também assistente de maestros como Richard Egarr, Arie van Beek, Johannes Leertouwer e Marcos Magalhães. Em junho de 2025, dirigiu a Orquestra Gulbenkian em Lisboa, durante uma masterclass com o maestro Lawrence Foster e um concerto público. Em janeiro de 2024, estreou-se na Nationale Opera en Ballet de Amesterdão com a estreia da ópera “Goldilocks in Amsterdam” de Massimiliano Vizzini, no âmbito do Opera Forward Festival. Colaborou ainda com o OIHUA Ensemble, tendo dirigido obras dos compositores Saskia Venegas, Hans Koolmees, Friso van Wijck e Femke Sonnen durante o Dag van de Componist. Colabora regularmente com a Laurens Kooracademie e com a Codarts Symphony Orchestra, tendo dirigido obras como A Criação de Haydn, Petite Messe Solennelle de Rossini, a Abertura de Tannhäuser de Wagner e This Midnight Hour de Anna Clynne.

É também ativo enquanto cantor coral, tendo cantado nos coros Laurenscantorij e Laurens Symfonisch, em Roterdão, onde se apresentou com orquestras como a Rotterdams Philharmonisch Orkest e a Residentie Orkest, e é membro ativo do Bachkoor Holland, onde cantou a Paixão Segundo São Mateus e a Oratória de Natal de Bach com a Orquestra de Câmara da Concertgebouw.

 

Bruno Vicente is a Portuguese conductor and composer, born in Figueira da Foz, Portugal, and currently residing in Rotterdam, the Netherlands. He studies at Codarts Rotterdam, pursuing a bachelor’s degree in orchestral conducting under the guidance of Hans Leenders, Sander Teepen and Wiecher Mandemaker. Before that he also completed a master’s and bachelor’s degrees in composition, at Codarts and ESMAE in Porto, Portugal, respectively. In composition, he has studied with renowned figures such as Hans Koolmees, Wim Hendrickx, Klaas de Vries, Peter-Jan Wagemans, Josué Amador, Dimitris Andrikopoulos, Carlos Azevedo, Pedro Santos and João Pedro Oliveira, among others.  In conducting he had classes with names such as Lawrence Foster, Arie van Beek, Karel Deseure, Baldur Brönnimann, Johan de Meij, Luís Clemente, Joost Geevers, and Ronald Kieft.

As a composer, in 2023, he was one of the finalists for the Stipendium prize of the Nederlands Radio Filharmonisch Orkest, having his work “Harmony of the Spheres” performed by this orchestra at the Muziekcentrum van de Omroep in Hilversum, the Netherlands. The same composition also won the 1st prize in the 2nd edition of the ABC…Compositores! competition at the Teatro Nacional de São Carlos and was premiered in March 2023 by the Portuguese Symphony Orchestra, having also been edited and published by AvA Editions. He has also collaborated with other ensembles such as Sinfonia Rotterdam, Harmonix Orchestra, Delfts Symphonie Orkest, Coro Do Círculo Cultural Scalabitano, Opus 111 Ensemble, and wrote music for radiotheater plays broadcast on Antena 2, Portugal.

In conducting, he’s currently assistant conductor of the Orquestra de Câmara Portuguesa and the Jovem Orquestra Portuguesa. He has also assisted conductors such as Richard Egarr, Arie van Beek, Johannes Leertouwer and Marcos Magalhães. In June of 2025 he conducted the Gulbenkian Orchestra in Lisbon, during a masterclass with Lawrence Foster and a public concert. In January of 2024 he made his debut at the Nationale Opera & Ballet in Amsterdam with the premiere of Massimiliano Vizzini’s opera “Goldilocks in Amsterdam”, as part of the Opera Forward Festival. He has also collaborated with OIHUA Ensemble, having conducted pieces by composers Saskia Venegas, Hans Koolmees, Friso van Wijck and Femke Sonnen. He regularly collaborates with the Laurens Kooracademie and with the Codarts Symphony Orchestra, having conducted works such as Haydn’s The Creation, Rossini’s Petite Messe Solennelle, Wagner’s Tannhäuser Overture, and Anna Clynne’s This Midnight Hour.

Bruno is also active as a choral singer, having sung with the Laurenscantorij and Laurens Symfonisch choirs in Rotterdam, where he has performed together with orchestras such as the Rotterdams Philharmonisch Orkest and the Residentie Orkest, and is an active member of the Bachkoor Holland, where he sang Bach’s St. Matthew’s Passion and Christmas Oratorio together with the Concertgebouw Chamber Orchestra.
