Born in Riba do Âncora in 1970, Arlete began her musical studies at the age of twelve, at the Junta de Freguesia de Freixieiro under the guidance of professor João Franco. Continued her studies in Accordion at the Academia de Música Fernandes Fão with professor Pedro Santos.
In 1998, Arlete interrupts her musical studies to teach Musical Education in state schools while simultaneously doing her undergraduate degree in Musical Education at ESE, in Lisbon.
In 2008, she retakes her accordion studies at Academia de Música S. Pio X in Vila do Conde under the guidance of professor Carisa Marcelino, continuing then to an undergraduate in instrumental performance (Accordion) at the University of Aveiro with professor Abel Moura. Proceeded then to complete her postgraduate in Special Education at the Universidade Fernando Pessoa - polo Ponte de Lima. In the following year, finishes her Master degree in Music Teaching at the Universidade Católica Portuguesa.
Arlete has participated in a wide variety of APEM training courses in musical teaching and many accordion masterclasses by professors Carisa Marcelino, Paulo Jorge Ferreira, Owen Murray and Gonçalo Pescada.
Has taken part in many recitals, mainly integrated in the Academia de Música Fernandes Fão activities program.
Arlete is a professor of accordion and group classification at the Academia Fernandes Fão.
