Born in Braga, Portugal, Daniel Amaro demonstrated an interest in music from an early age.
Gravitating especially towards philharmonic bands, and due to family influence, he began his clarinet studies in 2007. Composition arrived later in life, through exploring the contents and exercises covered in Musical Theory and Analysis classes. There he developed his first composition experiments and works, which won him some awards, such as an honorable mention in the 5 th edition of Prémio de Composição Séc. XXI (2014), an honorable mention in the VII Concurso Nacional de Composição Banda Sinfónica Portuguesa (2019); and the third prize in the 2 nd edition of the Prémio Internacional de Composição para Clarinete Solo e Banda (2022).
Inspired by postromantic, neoclassical, and modern music, Amaro intends to explore different musical languages with the aim to create challenging pieces that draw in all audiences.
