Dedicated to the Mexican teacher and horn player Ernesto Miramontez, “Portuguese Stamps” is an epic to Portuguese popular music, with emphasis on four regions of the continental territory. The popular song “Vós chamais-me moreninha” from Beira Interior (inland) goes through the rst movement. An original theme evokes the "Cante Alentejano", Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity by UNESCO, a popular genre in the Alentejo (southern inland). Fandango, from Ribatejo, is interpreted in a virtuous version that ends with the foot tapping of the folklore dancer. In the last movement, the drums of “Zé Pereira”, traditional carnival revelers from Minho (northern region), break with the popular theme “A Saia da Carolina”.
