Jesús Pineda was born in Canary Islands in 1975. In 1998 he ends his official studies at the Conservatorio Superior de Sevilla, where he obtains the highest qualifications and the award “Honors Degree” under the tutelage of the professor Serafín Arriaza. He continues his professional studies receiving masterclasses from great professors as Alberto Ponce, David Russell, Joaquín Clerch or Roland Dyens, among others. On the other hand, his curiosity leads him to learn studies of the plucked string instruments of early music (Renaissance and Baroque), specializing in the interpretation of the lute and theorbo. In addition to his academic merits, Pineda has been awarded in several international competitions, achieving nine first prizes among which could be mentioned those obtained at International Competition Ciudad de Linares "Andres Segovia" or at Valencia Guitar Competition.
Pineda has performed as soloist and as a member of chamber groups in several countries from Europe, getting of these recitals very good reviews. Besides, as soloist with orchestra he acts with numerous Spanish orchestras, with them he performed from Baroque concerts to twentieth century concerts (Vivaldi, Giuliani, Castillo, Rodrigo and so on). Currently, he forms a quintet with the Latin Grammy-winning "Havana String Quartet" with whom performs several programs ranging from Boccherini's quintets to the latest music.
Pineda in his role as a researcher has published many research papers on technical and interpretive aspects of the guitar. He has received his Ph.D. from the University of Seville with a Doctoral Dissertation about the life and work for guitar of the Spanish composer Manuel Castillo.
Pineda has been regularly invited as a performer, juror, teacher and lecturer at many guitar festivals and educational institutions across Europe, Africa and America, among others: Festival Internacional de guitarra (Peru), Concurso Internacional “Cidade de Almada” (Portugal), Conservatorio “G. B. Pergolesi” of Fermo (Italy), Guitart Festival Sevilla, Festival “Figures Sonores” of Alger (Algeria), Escola Superior of Lisboa (Portugal), Hochschule für Künste Bremen (Germany), Konservatorium Wien University of Viena (Austria)…
At present he combines his concerts with his activities of teacher and researcher. He is currently occupying a place of professor at the Conservatorio Superior "Manuel Castillo” of Seville (Spain).
