Miriam Teixeira began her musical studies at the Orfeão de Leiria Music School, and continued them at the Coimbra Music Conservatory, where she achieved the 5th level of Piano. In Braga, she studied Mathematics at the University of Minho, and simultaneously completed the Complementary Music Course in the area of Singing at the Braga Calouste Gulbenkian Conservatory. There, she also took Composition and ATC (Analysis and Composition Techniques) lessons with the professor Ana Paula Moura. Studying Mathematics studies didn’t let her forget her passion for music, so, as soon as she graduated, she started a degree in Music Composition at the Escola Superior de Música in Lisbon. There, she had Composition classes with Carlos Marecos, Sérgio Azevedo, António Pinho Vargas and Luis Tinoco. At the same time, she was also a teacher of Music Theory and Choir, at the Academia de Música de Alcobaça. She finished her Composition degree in 2013, and composed, among other works, “Tudo o que faço”, for soprano and piano, “Brainstorm”, for solo flute, “Influindo” for 4 percussionists, and “Génesis”, for Wind Orchestra.
