Born in São Paulo, Brazil, on March 23,1927
At nine years old, he began his piano studies with Ana Veloso de Rezende, continuing them later with Mary of the Angels Oliveira Rocha and Jose Kliass. He learned the rudiments of Harmony and Counterpoint with Ernesto Kierski from 1945 to 1947. In the late 1940s,had vocal technique lessons with the exiled Russian singer Olga Urbany of Ivanow.
From 1952 to 1962, he studied composition with Mozart Camargo Guarnieri, who owes the beginning of his career, and formed his personality under the guidance of this composer too. His style is characterized by a refined nationalism, the result of extensive knowledge of the Brazilian music features, combined with solid field of modern techniques of composition.
In 1963, he spent a year in the United States, under the auspices of the John Simon Guggenheim Memorial Foundation, and was the first Brazilian composer to use a scholarship this important foundation. Then had composition lessons with Vittorio Giannini in New York, and Aaron Copland at Tanglewood.
In the late 1970s and beginning of 1980, advised in orchestration with maestro Roberto Schnorrenberg.
In May 1965, was one of the composers that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs sent to the United States, to represent Brazil in the Inter-American Composers Seminar at the University of Indiana, and the Inter-American IIIº Music Festival in Washington.
In April of 1996, was one of the Brazilian composers the American Composers Orchestra invited to participate in New York, the Festival "Sonido de las Americas: Brazil".
Among his works, which are being increasingly implemented in Brazil and abroad, stand out works for piano, voice and piano, choir, chamber sets, orchestra and band, many of whom find themselves edited and written to disks, in Brazil and abroad.

He holds the following awards in composition competitions: First Prize in the National Composition Contest "City of São Paulo" (sponsored by the City of São Paulo, in 1962), with the Suite "Piratininga" for orchestra; First Prize in the symphonic works of Composition Competition (sponsored by Radio Ministry of Education and Culture, Rio de Janeiro in 1962), with the same Suite "Piratininga"; Second Prize in the Composition Competition "The Brazilian Song" (sponsored by Radio Ministry of Education and Culture, Rio de Janeiro in 1962), with "You sent the shadow of a kiss" song; First Prize in Composition Competition and arrangements for the Mixed Choir Four Voices (promoted by the Federal University of Paraiba in 1967), with the chorus "Poem Need"; First Prize at the Ist National Composition Competition for Blow-Horn and Bassoon Instruments (promoted by the Union of Musicians Professionals of the City of Rio de Janeiro in 1984), with "Three Melodies" for bassoon and piano.
In addition to these prizes in composition competitions, also got the following ones: Award "Best New Composer as in 1962", awarded by the Critics Association of Rio de Janeiro; Award "Best Camera Work in 1970" (awarded by the São Paulo Association of Theater Critics), with the "Trio" for piano, violin and cello; Award "Best Camera Work in 1975" (awarded by the Art Critics Association of São Paulo), with the "Four Parts Modal" for string orchestra; Award "Best Camera Work in 1978" (awarded by the São Paulo Association of Art Critics), with "Appassionato, Cantilena and Toccata" for viola and piano; Award "Best Camera Work in 1981" (awarded by the Art Critics Association of São Paulo), with the "Concerto" for piccolo and string orchestra; Award "Best Camera Work in 1986" (awarded by the São Paulo Association of Art Critics), with the "Sonata" for oboe and piano; Award and "Best Symphonic Work in 1994," to "Trading" for piano and orchestra.
In 1968, he received the Order of the Musicians of Brazil, the trophy "Order of Musicians of Brazil-1968 Composer of Classical Music".
Received the following medals: Alexandre Levy, acting as President of the Society Pro Musica Brasileira, the disclosure, given to the work of this composer; Marechal Candido Mariano da Silva Rondon and Brigadier José Vieira Couto de Magalhães, both granted by the Company Brazilian Geographic.
Was founder of the Musical Mobilization of Brazilian Youth (1945), and Director of the Department of Dissemination of Brazilian Music (1951 and 1952), that entity in São Paulo.
He was the founder and Artistic Director of the São Paulo Art Society, an organization that, from 1949 to 1955, presented several new musical values ??to São Paulo public.
Was also founder and President of the Society Pro Musica Brasileira, an entity that, in São Paulo, from 1961 to 1966, promoted wide dissemination of Brazilian music. Was again President of the same Society, when it resurfaced briefly in 1984.
He is founder and President of the Brazilian Music Center, since its foundation in December 1984 to date (January 1997), an entity that, in São Paulo, leads to greater disclosure of Brazilian classical music.
He was a member of the Municipal Music Commission, in Santos (1965-1967); President of the State Music Commission, in São Paulo (1967); and member of the National Commission Musica Sacra (1966-1970).
He graduated in Law from the University of São Paulo (Faculty "Largo San Francisco") in 1961. It is "Fellow" of the John Simon Guggenheim Memorial Foundation (United States), and Commander of the Order of the Knights of Concordia (Spain).
It is effective member of the Brazilian Academy of Music, where he holds the Chair 9, whose patron is Tomaz Cantuaria.
He devoted himself always intensely to the music school, acting as professor of Elementary Theory, Solfeggio, Harmony, Counterpoint, Musical Analysis, Composition and Orchestration. His Elementary Theory of books Compendium of Music, Elementary Theory of Music Exercises, Preparatory Course Solfeggio and Dictation Musical, Musical and Spelling Rules are adopted in numerous music schools in Brazil and Portugal.
It stands out its participation, as a teacher, the Teachers Training Course (of the State Music Commission of São Paulo, 1960-1962, and 1969-1970); in Iº Seminario de Sergipe of Music (1967); in the II Ouro Preto Winter Festival (1968); the International Course of Paraná Music (from 1966 to 1970, and 1975 and 1977), and many other Music Courses, held in several cities in Brazil (Campinas, Ribeirão Preto, Franca, Pindamonhangaba, Presidente Prudente, Pocos de Caldas , Londrina, Christmas, etc.).
On March 31, 2012, during the OSVALDO FESTIVAL LACERDA honoring the 85 years that would have made on the 23rd of this month, sponsored by BRAZILIAN MUSIC CENTER, launched his latest book, 'TRIVIA MUSICAL "unfinished book and compiled by Eudoxia of Barros, also presenting testimony from several students and people from the music world.
