Torsten Sense was born in Berlin (Germany) in September 1961. Since 1984 Sense´s works are performed at prestigious locations for contemporary music in Berlin like „Akademie der Künste Berlin“, „Unerhörte Musik im BKA“, „Hamburger Bahnhof“, „Staatliches Institut für Musikinstrumente“ and festivals, such as „Internationale Tage der Neuen Musik“ (Würzburg), „Klangbrücken“ or „E 88“ (Berlin). 1985 the „Office franco – allemand pour la jeunesse“ choose his chamber opera „Anima“ for a realisation and performances in France and Germany. In the following years he composed a lot of music theatre, for example „Berlin – dein Tänzer ist der Tod“ on the occasion oft he 70th anniversary oft he „Tribüne“. He composed a lot of music for films too and was involved in some award-winning movie productions like „3 Chinamen with a Doublebass“ by Klaus Krämer or „Horch“ by Giorgos Fotopoulos.
2010 he stopped all activities in the field of film and theatre and decided to research new methods to create a new texture for his music. His first published work after a break of 3 years won the 3rd prize at the „International Organ Competition Saarlouis“. Since then his works recieved some awards and special mentions, for example „Wonderland“ for Bigband and Small Orchestra recieved a special award at „17th International Composition Contest Carl von Ossietzky“ (2018).
