This sixth volume of the Repertoire for Pianists collection brings together piano pieces by several relevant composers in the history of Portuguese music. After the publication of Volumes I through V, this collection is also designed as an anthology that presents rich personalities from the Portuguese history of music and offers a wide variety of styles.
Composed between the 18th century and today, the pieces are published here in chronological order of the composers (*). They are intended for advanced pianists and can be performed on concert programs and in international competitions. Thus, over the six albums of this progressive anthology, we wanted to give all pianists and pedagogues the opportunity to arouse their curiosity and explore the music of composers from Portugal.
In this new volume, we will discover several new pieces, some previously unpublished, that deserve the attention of performers, such as the Cinco Nocturnos by Fernando Lopes-Gra a, the Intermezzo by Jorge Croner de Vasconcellos, the Peça Coreográfica by Joly Braga Santos and the Três Cantos para uma mem ria by Fernando C. Lapa.
Finally, we would like to thank composer Hugo Vasco Reis for allowing us to publish his piece Metamorphosis and Resonances for Piano.
(*) We refrained from proposing fingering to ensure total liberty for pianists and mentors.
