Renato Martins Serra was born in Manteigas, on June 13, 1995. He started his musical studies at Filarmónica Popular Manteiguense – Música Nova, and later went to study at Escola de Música de Belmonte. He continued his studies at Escola Superior de Artes Aplicadas (Castelo Branco) under the teaching of Alexandre Vilela, where he concluded his Bachelor's Degree in Music - Trombone (2013-2016) and his Master's Degree in Music Education - Trombone and Ensemble Music (2016-2019).
Throughout his path, he took part in masterclasses with teachers such as Joseph Alessi, George Curren, Filipe Alves, Ricardo Pereira, Hugo Assunção, Nuno Martins, Jaques Mauguer, Pedro Carrero, Tim Dowling, Massimo La Rosa, Luis Bonilla and Rui Bandeira. In what concerns to Early Music, he participated on Sackbut masterclasses with Adam Woolf and Hélder Rodrigues.
He has worked with conductors such as Alex Schillings, Mark Heron, Seow Yibin, Felix Hauswirth, Peter Stark, Paulo Martins, Luís Carvalho, André Granjo, José Eduardo Gomes, Luís Clemente, Alberto Roque, Pedro Neves, among others.
At a professional level, he has already collaborated with Orquestra Clássica do Centro (Coimbra) and Banda Sinfónica Portuguesa (Porto). At the present, he teaches Trombone and Ensemble Class at Conservatório de Música David de Sousa (Figueira da Foz).
