Carlos Núñez Medina, Madrid 1985
He studied composition at the Royal Conservatory of Music of Madrid under the guidance of Teresa Catalan. Later, he expands his studies in several courses and seminars. He took part as a composer in the Valencia International Performance Academy and in the International Composition Course Barcelona Modern Ensemble in which he received classes from composers such Alberto Posadas, Stefano Gervasoni, Stratis Minakakis or Jorge Villavicencio Grossmann among others.
He won different composition prizes like II International Competition "Ciudad de Orihuela" (Spain) and the II FIDAH Piano Composition Prize for young composers (Spain). He also got two special mentions in the Carmelo Bernaola Prize (Spain) and the IX International Competition of Composition for Accordion "Francisco Escudero" (Spain) and he got the Second Row in the 12 International Composition Competition of Póvoa de Varzim (Portugal).
Various of his works have been selected in different call for Scores like the Plural Ensemble (Spain) or in the Flute like Voice Call for Scores (Italy).
He has premiered works in the 6th Barcelona Modern Festival (2020), 4th Vipa Festival (2019), Plural Ensemble National Tour (2017), 8th Valencia Ensembles Festival (2017), 7th Encuentros Sonoros Festival (2017) and in the 29th Edition XXI Century Music Cycle (2015).
His music has been premiered by ensembles like Mivos Quartet, Aeolina Quartet, Plural Ensemble, Toy Ensemble, Rubik Ensemble, Shinzo Trio or JORCAM Youth Orchestra and soloist like Diego Fernández Magdaleno, Iagoba Fanlo, Julián Elvira o Raúl Jiménez.
He is also a graduated and master in flute at the Conservatory of Music of Navarra and the International University of Andalucia (Spain). He also got a Master Degree in Music Investigation at the Rey Juan Carlos University (Spain).
